普通记忆是有时间轴的:昨天发生了什么,前因是什么,后来怎样了。创伤记忆不是。它不是故事,是闪光——一个气味、一种声调、某个姿势——突然把你拽回去,但不告诉你为什么。

Van der Kolk 指出,创伤记忆之所以如此顽固,是因为它绕过了前额叶(负责叙事、理性、时间感),直接烙在了杏仁核和感觉皮层上。语言到达之前,身体已经反应了。
